This Sunday 11th May, our very own Kev will be taking on the Rob Burrow Leeds Marathon, all 26.2 miles of it - in a full lobster costume. Yes, really.
                                         Â
Why? Because Kev’s not just running for fitness. He’s running with purpose. With heart. And with claws.
A lifelong runner and passionate advocate for wellbeing, Kev has already inspired many of us at BKM to dust off our trainers - not just for personal wellness, but to support important causes close to our hearts. Earlier this year, he completed the London Landmarks Half Marathon, and now he’s setting his sights on the full 26.2 miles of the Leeds Marathon.
What makes this run even more special is that Kev is taking on the challenge for two important causes.
Firstly, he’s raising vital funds for Betknowmore UK, helping to tackle gambling harm and support people on their journey to recovery. These issues often go unseen but thanks to people like Kev, the stigma is breaking, awareness is growing, and real support is reaching those who need it.
Secondly, this run is a heartfelt tribute to Kev’s dear friend Bridget, who sadly passed away in March 2024 after a battle with Pulmonary Fibrosis. Bridget had a 'brilliant sense of humour’ and to honour her memory - and her favourite song, Rock Lobster by the B-52s - Kev will be running the entire marathon in a full lobster costume. It’s a bold, joyful, and moving way to pay tribute to someone so loved.
