Peer Aid Trainer

Betknowmore UK is looking for a Peer Aid Trainer to equip the next generation of Peer Supporters with the skills, confidence and boundaries to change lives.

Help us equip the next generation of Peer Supporters with the skills, confidence and boundaries to change lives.

At Betknowmore UK, we work to prevent and reduce gambling-related harm through support, education, training and community engagement. Our Peer Aid programme is the first peer support service to integrate with the National Gambling Support Network, and lived experience sits at the heart of everything we do. As our Peer Aid Trainer, you'll deliver high-quality, trauma-informed and lived-experience-led training that gives Peer Supporters and volunteers the skills, knowledge and confidence to support people affected by gambling harm safely and effectively.

Working closely with the Peer Aid Training Programmes Manager, you'll play a key role in the consistent delivery, quality assurance and continuous improvement of our training programmes, while helping to embed lived experience and co-production at every stage.

What you'll be doing

  • Delivering Betknowmore UK's Peer Support Training Programmes in line with our core curriculum and quality standards, both face-to-face and online
  • Facilitating engaging, inclusive and trauma-informed sessions for Peer Supporters and volunteers, adapting your style to meet diverse learner needs
  • Supporting learners to understand boundaries, safeguarding responsibilities and peer support principles, and marking their work following delivery
  • Supporting the meaningful involvement of Experts by Experience (EbEs) in training, including providing appropriate check-ins and support
  • Contributing to the co-produced development of training materials and learning resources
  • Embedding safeguarding principles throughout delivery and maintaining accurate training records in line with GDPR
  • Collecting learner feedback and contributing insights to improve training content, delivery methods and outcomes
  • Supporting the training and engagement of associate trainers, and representing Betknowmore UK positively with partners and stakeholders

We're interested in hearing from candidates who have:

  • Experience delivering training, workshops or facilitated learning sessions
  • Lived experience of gambling harm (directly or as an affected other), with insight into recovery and peer support principles
  • Strong facilitation, presentation and communication skills
  • Experience working with diverse groups, including vulnerable or at-risk individuals
  • An understanding of safeguarding principles and procedures
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft packages including Word, PowerPoint and SharePoint
  • Strong organisational and time management skills, with a commitment to equality, diversity, inclusion and trauma-informed practice
  • A willingness to travel across the UK, including occasional overnight stays

Experience within the health, social care, addiction or voluntary sector would be advantageous, as would familiarity with peer support, volunteer-led services, and co-produced or recovery-based approaches to training.

Why join us? You'll be joining a growing charity making a real difference to people's lives. This is an opportunity to shape the delivery of a pioneering, lived-experience-led training programme, support the development of Peer Supporters across the UK, and help ensure people affected by gambling harm can access safe, effective support.
