Are you worried about your gambling, or want to find out more about how it might be affecting you?

If you're not sure about your current gambling habits, or worried you might be negatively affected you can begin your journey using the information below.

What can I do to see how gambling is affecting me?

Develop a unique safety plan

If you want to continue gambling, but want to ensure you are safe whilst doing so, we recommend you develop a bespoke safety plan.

You can use the information on our continue gambling safely page to start.

Start keeping a diary

Using a notebook, or an online application, keep a diary to help you monitor your gambling engagement, and any other activities linked to your gambling.

Create a health inventory

An important step in exploring your relationship with gambling, is being honest and transparent about the true cost gambling is having on you, and those around you.

You can use our specialist tool (RED-E) to start that journey. Find out more on our exploring my relationship with gambling page.

Try starting a new activity

Why not try a new activity, or encourage yourself to do continue other hobbies or activities that aren't related to gambling?

Take a 'digital detox'

Taking a 'digital detox' is a great way of pausing gambling for a set period of time, and is also good for your general mental health.

You could do this by deleting specific apps from your phone or tablet, or staying off your devices for set periods of the day.

Think about the benefits of other activities

What benefits do you get from other activities?

For example, creating, or preparing, a new healthy behaviour can be an exciting opportunity to meet new people, as well as finding alternative rewarding activities.
