GOALS - Community Outreach Co-ordinator

Betknowmore UK is looking for one candidate, who has proven experience of delivering support and training services for vulnerable adults, such as in the mental health or addiction sectors. The Community Outreach Co-ordinator will supervise and work with the GOALS Support workers as well as providing hands on support to those using the service. The successful candidate will ensure a safe and effective network of support is established.

Role Purpose

The GOALS (Gambling Outreach and LivingSupport) programme has been designed to provide co-produced services, with input from gambling lived experience, peer support and evidence-based therapeutic approaches. This innovative approach has underpinned Betknowmore UK community work since 2014.

 

We are seeking a candidate who has experience of managing and developing community outreach support services for vulnerable adults within social care sectors.

 

The Community Outreach Co-Ordinator will support delivery and development of the GOALS programme, which provides a range of localised services to prevent and reduce gambling harms. This includes 1:1and group support, training, and awareness activities. Currently the programme is based in north London. You will be able to demonstrate a proven track record of managing a programme of activities, ensuring safe and impactful delivery, and enabling a culture of diversity, positive health, and connection

 

The post holder will have a strong understanding of supporting individuals and their networks, and through holistic and bespoke health promotion, address existing or emerging health challenges that are associated with gambling harms. An understanding of gambling harm and/or substance or behavioural addiction is preferable, as is experience of evidence - based harm minimisation and prevention strategies.

 

The post requires full understanding of safeguarding policy and practices, data management responsibilities and maintenance of safe and secure support environments. The challenges associated with outreach work should be familiar, as should solutions to engage proactively with local communities and vulnerable populations.

 

A key aspect of the role will be stakeholder and collaboration management. GOALS works with partner organisations to ensure the very best standard of care for our clients, and we expect the post holder to demonstrate excellent customer service standards.

Other tasks include regular reporting and monitoring protocols, managing budgets and financial information, supporting impact and evaluation work, and working positively with all stakeholders.

Key responsibilities and accountabilities

Development and delivery

•Lead key functions of the GOALS outreach programme in the borough of Islington

•Oversee the GOALS team workload and supervision

•Provide client support and manage care/support plans as required

•Help to produce a monthly service review, linked to the organisation’s strategy and business plan

•Support regular reviews of the service and implement necessary changes, to ensure high quality service, reflecting best practice and clear impact for all service users

•Maintain a safe, comfortable and purposeful environment regardless of location

•Be able to deliver an outreach programme and work in different environments to do so

•Plan and carry out support and mentoring

•Work with clients and/or other agencies to identify needs and provide support to meet those needs

•On occasion and where appropriate, advocate on behalf of the client

•Monitor client through meetings, email and telephone support

•Complete client assessments, reviews and all other records in an accurate, confidential and appropriate manner

•Record feedback and process onto database

•Maintain and develop existing and new partnerships and business relationships

•Develop ideas and activities for outreach services

•Deliver workshops, presentations and other outreach services

•Work constructively as part of a diverse team to deliver individual and community-based services

•Support with budgets and expenditure management related to the projects and help meet targets

•Assist with the monitoring and evaluation of the charity support services

•Health and safety responsibilities

•Assist with the day to day running of the service, ensuring the safety of all using the service as required

•Ensure that health and safety, diversity and equality policies are upheld.

General

•Follow Betknowmore UK policies and procedures at all times

•Provide support to other Betknowmore UK charity services as required

•Attend regular supervision sessions with the Head of Support Services

•To operate with clear professional and confidentiality boundaries and work within the organisation’s code of conduct

•Represent Betknowmore UK in a professional and appropriate manner

•Assist with other fundraising associated with service development as agreed with Senior Management

Qualifications or Relevant Experience

•Two years minimum experience in a similar role

•A minimum Level 2 Award in Gambling PeerSupport or equivalent

•Essential Skills & Knowledge

•An understanding of the role of lived experience in addiction recovery

•An appreciation and commitment to inclusivity and strengthening the voice of lived experience to help reduce stigma and contribute to social change

•Detailed knowledge of charity governance, safeguarding and compliance requirements

•Strong administrative and organisational skills

•Experience of working with confidential and sensitive data and following best practices when handling this type of data

•Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, with the ability to communicate

•effectively with people at different levels

•Strong attention to detail and time management skills

•A willingness and capability to allocate sufficient time, on a flexible basis, to carry out effectively the duties and responsibilities of the post

•Ability to work positively in a team

•Ability to work independently, prioritise, plan and manage own workload

•Understanding of using an Apple Mac and relevant software e.g. Excel, Word

 

Desirable Skills & Knowledge

•Understanding of CRM systems e.g.Salesforce

•Knowledge of gambling and related issues

•Empathy with the Charity’s aims and objectives
