Funding

To date the gambling support sector has been severely underfunded and reliant on voluntary donations from the gambling industry, which are managed by the charity Gamble Aware.

The government does not provide any direct funding, although we recognise there is more work and recognition on issues around gambling related harm, such as the recently commissioned IPPR ‘Cards On The Table’ report.

We believe that gambling addiction should be given the same attention as substance addictions, such as drugs/alcohol and treatment and research departments/services should fall under the Department of Health, not the Department for Culture, Media and Sport.

Our services are currently funded by grant/funding providers, such as Big Lottery and Trust for London, as well as income from ‘trading’. We provide training and support services to a range of organisations in different sectors.
